H8R Preview: Eva Longoria And Scott Disick Confront Their Haters
Based on last week’s series premiere, the CW’s new show H8R either gives a celebrity the opportunity to win over a non-fan, or it allows them to be berated by that non-fan in person. Judging by the clips from tonight’s episode, Scott Disick might be adding a third outcome to the table: re-enforcing the hater’s opinion with firsthand experience.
During last week's premiere Nicole ("Snooki") of The Jersey Shore attempted to prove to one of her haters that she’s a good person, but the segment came off feeling forced on both sides, as though they were encouraged to give each other a hard time, and later encouraged to play up their reconciliation. Later in the episode, The Bachelor’s Jake Pavelka’s attempt to win over a girl who strongly disliked him seemed to turn into him practically begging for approval from a total stranger, after which he got frustrated when she wasn’t swayed. I was uncomfortable watching the entire second-half of the episode.
Tonight’s episode may be a bit more amusing. It features Scott Disick and Eva Longoria. Longoria’s well known for her starring role in Desperate Housewives. Disick required a Wikipedia search on my part, however many will likely recognize him for his appearances on the Kardashian reality shows.
Disick seems to have misunderstood the assignment, because he doesn’t appear to be going out of his way to try to sway his hater into seeing his more appealing side. Instead, it looks like he’s intentionally trying to prove her right.
Similarly to how things went during the series premiere, Longoria's hater is somehow prompted to talk about the celeb they dislike, while that celeb watches on. After this guy goes on and on about the things he doesn’t like about Longoria, she shows up to say hello. His look of surprise and alarm is pretty funny.
H8R airs Wednesdays at 8/7c on The CW.
