HBO To Air Pee-Wee Herman Show On Broadway Special

"I know you are, but what am I?!"
Paul Reubens is headed back to HBO in 2011. The premium cable network made the announcement today that they’ll be taping Reubens’ current Broadway show “The Pee-Wee Herman Show on Broadway” for a special that will be aired later in the year.
Reubens is well known for his character Pee-Wee Herman. He recently revived the character for a Broadway show that debuted to critical acclaim at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on November 11, 2010. HBO will be shooting their special immediately following the conclusion of the show, which is running through January 2nd. Senior vice president, HBO Original Programming made the announcement today, stating that the special will debut on HBO in 2011.
“Before his hit series and movies, HBO introduced Paul Reubens’ Pee-wee Herman to a national audience in the ‘Young Comedians’ series, followed by the groundbreaking 1981 special,” noted Geller. “It’s thrilling to have Paul back on the network, and it will be a blast to return to Pee-wee’s Playhouse.”
Much like the play, I’m thinking the special will appeal most to those of us who grew up watching Pee-Wee’s Playhouse and Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure (and maybe even Big Top Pee-Wee) and weren't able to get to the city to catch Reubens on Broadway.
