HBO Secures Deal With Actor-Comedian Zach Galifianakis

It would appear that HBO knows when they have a good thing on their hands. Word is the pay-cable network locked in a first-look deal with comedian, actor (and occasionally one-man wolf pack) Zach Galifianakis. The first new project for the Bored to Death co-star is a mockumentary special starring Brody Stevens.
According to Deadline, HBO has secured a first-look deal with Galifianakis, which as I understand it, is the industry equivalent to calling dibs on any TV projects he wants to produce. We don't know the specifics of the deal but it's probably safe to say we can expect to see more of Galifianakis on HBO, in addition to his appearances on Bored to Death. The first new project stars comedian Brody Stevens, playing himself in a fake documentary about the life of a comedian. Galifianakis will appear in the special and most likely guest star in the show (if it’s made into a series).
While Galifianakis’ face, beard and deadpan humor are more well known to the general public thanks to the success of The Hangover, Stevens seems to be more known for his stand-up comedy. Among his credits is the audience-warmup person for Chelsea Lately. He also played small roles in The Hangover and more recently, Due Date, which also starred Galifianakis.
Here’s some of Stevens’ stand-up:
