Heroes Beats Betty At The People's Choice Awards

The 33rd Annual People’s Choice Awards aired last night and the event went as predictably as it always does. Queen Latifah brought her usual confident charm to the stage as host and the big names of movies, music and TV from 2006 were all (mostly) in attendance to receive their awards. The funniest moment of the night (ok, the only funny moment of the night) was when Justin Timberlake accepted his award for Favorite R&B song, Sexyback and then proceeded to say that he thought he would’ve won the award for the other song he recently recorded. He followed this with “Step one: Cut a hole in the box; Step two: you put your junk in the box….” And then trailed off.

It was probably for the best that Timberlake only sang a few lines of the song. It’s doubtful that CBS would’ve appreciated him costing them another half a million dollars in FCC fines.

Other than that, the only other worth-mentioning aspects of the ceremony are that the stage was too small to fit more than a few people at the podium, which resulted in a lot of people-clumping on stage during certain acceptance speeches and that it must have been mandatory to low-five everyone you could reach on the way to the podium because almost all of the winners did this (and not one was caught wiping their hands on their dress or jacket afterwards).
