Hiccup And Toothless Take Flight In Cartoon Network's Dragons: Riders of Berk Clip
For some odd reason, in an age absolutely saturated with remakes, adaptations and spin-offs, it's increasingly rare for a property to move from the big-screen to the small even though that seems like the natural progression. The trend is a bit bucked when you consider animation because, first, the medium doesn't usually get adapted from television into theatrically released films anyway and, second, there are still plenty of Disney, Pixar and Nickelodeon programs popping up on television. Too bad the shows usually seem like second-class efforts not worth watching but DreamWorks' Dragons: Riders of Berk, an adaptation of their box-office smash How to Train Your Dragon, actually looks up to snuff.
It didn't hurt to hear that the new weekly series will not only continue the adventures of Hiccup, his dragon Toothless and the rest of the kids, sorry, dragon trainers, from the feature film but it also managed to bring back almost all of the all-star voice cast with Jay Baruchel, America Ferrera, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and T.J. Miller returning. DreamWorks and The Cartoon Network have also added an awesome collection of new voice-actors including Tim Conway, Mark Hamill, Julie Marcus, Zach Pearlman and Stephen Root in order to populate the titular Viking island of Berk. Here's the first clip from the upcoming series that shows our leads, Baruchel's Hiccup and Ferrera's Astrid (not to mention their dragons), getting into trouble while having a bit of fun.

There was a one-hour preview of Berk on Tuesday (back-to-back episodes) and even if you missed the screening, you can still get a look at the opening sequence of Episode 1, "How to Start A Dragon Academy" by watching the trailer for The Cartoon Network special. The clip is a perfect introduction to the kids, led by Baruchel's Hiccup, and their respective dragons, not to mention a great opportunity to remind us all that we missed the special preview! Damn!
Dragons: Riders of Berk will premiere on Tuesday, September 4 at 7:30 p.m. ET on The Cartoon Network.
