Homeland Season 2 Teaser: His Mission Hits Home...

Showtime does a pretty good job of keeping interest up for their original series during their hiatuses. That applies to Homeland, the pay-cable network's thrilling and intense drama series, which debuted last year and left us with plenty of unanswered questions to ponder while we wait for Season 2 next fall.

Homeland is a psychological thriller/drama, which follows CIA operative Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) and recovered prisoner of war Nicholas Brody (Damien Lewis), whom Mathison believes might be a part of the a terrorist plot on U.S. soil. If you haven't seen the first season, I highly recommend it as it proved to be one of the most suspenseful, exciting and well produced new dramas of 2011. With that said, vague spoilers from Season 1 ahead, so stop reading now if you aren't caught up!

Showtime offered us a reminder of those unanswered questions with a teaser that released back in April. It didn't offer us any glimpses of Season 2, but it did give us some clues as to what might be ahead by reminding us of the Season 1 cliffhangers.

Like the last one released, the latest teaser doesn't show anything from Season 2, so rest assured, there are no spoilers ahead, but it does give us a little something to think about while we stare at Damien Lewis' face.

"Why kill a man, when you can kill an idea?"

That suggests a bigger picture, and one we'll see play out in Season 2 when "His Mission Hits Home." Great play on the first half of the series one-word title, and his expression seems almost friendly, which makes me think Showtime is going out of its way to keep Lewis' motives a bit blurry, at least with regards to their promotions.

Homeland returns for Season 2 September 30, 2012 on Showtime.
