How Season 6 Of Game Of Thrones Is A Big One For Jon Snow
Spoilers ahead for the newest episode of Game of Thrones. And some speculation and possible spoilers for the remainder of Season 6.
The newest episode of Game of Thrones ended on a triumphant and exciting note. After two full episodes of looking at Jon Snow’s lifeless and increasingly pale corpse, we were given the moment we’d all been waiting for. Melisandre laid her hands on Jon Snow’s corpse and attempted to bring him back to life, before leaving the chamber in dismay. And in the last few seconds, Jon’s eyes opened and he was reborn.
Actor Kit Harington, who plays the bastard of Winterfell in HBO’s Game of Thrones, recently spoke to EW about his character’s plot. In addition to apologizing for lying to Game fans for close to a year, he also revealed how important Jon’s story will be in the rest of Season 6, saying:
This seems like a rather bold claim for Kit Harington to make. Jon Snow has always been one of the characters with the most action and scenes in the series, alongside Daenerys and Tyrion. However, it seems as if he'll be getting even more screentime than usual, asKit Harington also revealed that he spent more time on set than any other actor this season. Since two of the episodes were as a corpse, we should expect more in the coming weeks.
So what exactly will Jon Snow be doing this season that will make his plot so important? I’ve got a few theories here. If I’m right, there may be a spoiler or two, but only time will tell.
For one, he’s probably going to reunite with Sansa. For 5 seasons, we’ve been waiting for the members of the Stark family to finally come together. The northern family has been spread across Westeros, and three of them have been killed. While we were teased with Bran and Jon’s reunion a few seasons ago, Sansa’s impending arrival at Castle Black will be the first time that two Starks are finally sharing scenes together. That’s sure to be satisfying for hardcore fans of the series.
Additionally, it’s possible that Jon’s parentage will finally be revealed this season. The biggest theory regarding Jon’s paternity is that he is actually the bastard of Lyanna Stark (Ned’s sister) and Rhaegar Targaryen (Dany’s brother). With Bran currently exploring his family’s past, he may just find this to be true. The most recent episode featured Lyanna in a flashback, and Bran seemed particularly interested in his Aunt. Could his training with the Three-Eyed Raven result in finding out the truth about his “brother”?

Finally, we have the upcoming battle with the White Walkers. The dead are approaching Westeros, and Jon seems to be one of the only characters in Game of Thrones who understands their danger. He, Davos, and Melisandre may just team up and attempt to foil the undead’s plans.
Only time will tell how Jon Snow’s plot line changes in Season 6. We’ll continue to update you on all things Game of Thrones as details become public to us. You can catch new episodes of Game of Thrones on Sunday nights at 9 p.m. ET, only on HBO.
