Idol Owns Thursday Night In The Ratings, Awake Falters Further
Well folks, last night was a pretty good night for many network shows. NBC stayed steady or popped up a little in the ratings during its comedy block, ABC’s Scandal was on the rise, CBS was up, up, and up between The Big Bang Theory, The Mentalist, and Person of Interest, and Fox’s Touch continued to see gains. Only one show really faltered last night and that was Awake, but we will get into that later.
The Big Bang Theory drove up half a point last night for a whopping 4.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic. It stills wasn’t enough to win the night in viewers, as American Idol drove a popular contestant home and pulled in plenty of pairs of eyes, but The Big Bang Theory still gets all the brownie points in the advertising demographic that matters most (Idol only pulled a 3.9 last night in 18-49 viewers).
Most shows posted fairly predictable ratings last night, except for poor NBC, which cannot get Awake to perform, despite good reviews. According to THR, Awake only earned a .7 rating among viewers in the 18-49 demographic. Despite all of my hopes otherwise, the show looks as if it is going to get cancelled, and I guess some of the staunch viewers the drama did have are now giving up.
You can’t win ‘em all, but between Awake, Terra Nova, and NYC 22, my track record is looking pretty terrible this year.
