FOX has signed its hits show ’24 for a guaranteed three more seasons and producers of the show are saying that a part of next season will take place in New York City. According to TV.com, executive producer Joel Surnow has said that the show is in talks with city officials to film the show there. It is unknown if the entire season will take place in New York, but Surnow did say President Logan and his wife would return.
Last season saw Jack kidnapped by the Chinese government after exposing the President as a traitor. I’m glad the numbers keep rising for ‘24’, but I can’t see them keeping the same intensity of the past few seasons going for many more years. 8 seasons is a long time for any show, especially one as gimmicky as ’24’. Moving the story to a different location could be a shake up for the writing staff, and Mondays are still my favorite night of the week when ‘24’ and ‘Prison Break’ are on.
Normally seasons of ‘24’ take place months, if not years, apart from each other in terms of show continuity. Given the precarious situation we left Jack in at the end of last season, the next one might start soon after that day ended. The President Logan storyline got a little too Ludlum-ish with the shadowy organization that was “controlling” the POTUS, and with that and Jack being held by the Chinese I hope this show doesn’t get more convoluted than it already is.
