Jaleel White Talks About Hosting Syfy's Upcoming Game Show Total Blackout

Yesterday, Syfy announced that they were bringing a version of the popular international game show Total Blackout to the network. While sci-fi fans will likely complain that the game show has very little (if anything) to do with science fiction, the format for the show actually sounds pretty fun.

Brought to us by FremantleMedia North America, the series has been given an 8-episode order by Syfy. According to Syfy’s announcement, former Family Matters star Jaleel White is set to host the show, which will have contestants facing their fears and fumbling around in the dark as they attempt to complete challenges. The more official description:

Total Blackout is a comedic game show in which contestants battle each other and their fears in a series of challenges. However, there is a twist -- all the challenges are played in complete darkness. There are no lights, no blindfolds and no-holds barred as the players face their fears and unexpected surprises in a series of nerve-wracking games

Other versions of this game show have aired in Belgium, Denmark, Greece, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Netherlands, Norway, Romania, Russia, Sweden and the Ukraine. But do any of them have Urkel? I think note. Here’s actor Jaleel White as he talks about hosting the show and hints at what might be in store for the contestants.

Tarantulas? Sounds very Fear Factor-esque, which could definitely work. The series beings production later this month, with the aim to premiere sometime in 2012.
