Jericho Nuked, Mom Rejoices: CBS Schedule Rumors

The great eye has looked ‘Jericho’ over and found it wanting. Unfortunately for fans of CBS’ Wednesday drama, we won’t be finding out how Jake and his merry band ward off Newbearn. The post apocalyptic show will most likely live on in memory, along with two other series. Nothing is official yet, but word on the street – where I get my news from a one eyed vendor – is that ‘Jericho,’ ‘The Class,’ and ‘Close to Home’ have seen their last days.

According to Variety, right now each series sits with no orders being placed for future episodes, which forebodes bad things during Upfront week. ‘Close to Home’ being kicked out marks a change in the Bruckheimer television lineup, which is still mighty impressive. While ‘Class’ was considered a longshot, fans had hoped decent ratings and a creative upswing in the last weeks would help. Most surprising is the big Eye turning from ‘Jericho,’ which started strong and was expected to be given more time. As television viewers we’re getting used to being left hanging mid-story. See ‘Drive’ and ‘Daybreak’ as earlier examples this season.

On the brighter side, the hilarious ‘How I Met Your Mother’ has been picked up for a third season. Honestly, I’m more interested in hearing Barney finish his classically cliché line than whether Jake can lead his town in a war. While this is good news, just wait till you hear what else has been picked up. ‘Ghost Whisperer’ will return. That’s right, the Jennifer Love Hewitt gag fest is getting more airtime. Hewitt’s hotness aside, this is a horrible decision. We’ll have to wait for CBS to unleash their fall schedule to cross check the rumors with the facts, but don’t be surprised when one of your favs didn’t make the cut. We just warned you.
