John Stamos To Guest Star On ABC's Musical Comedy Galavant
These days, if you're looking for John Stamos, you might find him hypnotizing women with his charming smile as he advertises Oikos yogurt. But come Midseason, we'll get to see him working in more musical territory, as he's set to guest star in ABC's musical comedy series Galavant. John Stamos in a musical? Have mercy.
ABC News reports that Stamos has signed on to guest star in Galavan, in which hey'll play the lead character's longtime rival, "a dashing knight who squares off against him once more in local joust." This, according to executive producer Dan Fogelman. It sounds like they've had Stamos in mind for a guest spot since early on, and it's finally happening.
ABC News goes on to note that Stamos will join the production of the series in Bristol England. He'll be in at least one episode, and possibly return for more later one.
Stamos is known for his comedic abilities, having starred in the beloved 80's/90's sitcom Full House. Since then, he's had roles in Jake in Progress, ER and most relevant to this news, Glee. So he's not only familiar with comedies, but musical comedies as well. And thanks to his Full House band and other musical demonstrations, we also know he can sing...
Stamos is also known for having played with the Beach Boys on numerous occasions. So his musical talents are pretty well documented.
Galavant stars Joshua Sasse as the titular Galavant, a handsome hero whose love, Madalena (Mallory Jansen), was stolen away from him by the evil King Richard (Timothy Omundson). The series will have Galavant looking to take revenge and "restore his happily ever after." Galavant is said to offer some twists and turns along the way. And it sounds like we have John Stamos to look forwards to as well. It'll be interesting to see what kind of dynamic Stamos' character has with his rival, and just how musical this role is for the actor.
ABC has Galavant lined up to air during Midseason 2015. Check out the trailer for the series after the jump...
