Julie Benz And Jaime Murray Join Syfy's Defiance

The cast of Syfy’s upcoming series Defiance just got a bit more beautiful, and a bit more familiar looking, if you’ve seen the second season of Dexter, or any other show in which Jaime Murray and/or Julie Benz has appeared. Word is, the two real-life friends are set to play roles in Syfy’s futuristic series.
Defiance is a drama by Rockne S. O’Bannon, Kevin Murphy and Michael Taylor, which takes place in the future, on earth, where humans and aliens co-exist. The world is said to be “ravaged by decades of war and transformed by alien terra-forming machines.” Benz and Murray join Tony Curran, Grant Bowler and Stephanie Leonidas in the cast. The story follows Bowler’s character Jeb Nolan, a law-keeper in a town that’s described as “one of the new world’s few oasis of civility and inclusion.”
According to Deadline, Benz will play the town’s mayor, Amanda. And Murray will play the wife of Curran’s character Datak Tarr, a member of an elite alien race called Castithans. No word on if Murray is also an alien, but her character is described as beautiful (obviously) and proper.
Jaime Murray played Lila in Dexter, before going on to play various other TV roles, including Spartacus: Gods of the Arena and Syfy’s Warehouse 13. Meanwhile, Julie Benz was also in Dexter and later, the short-lived No Ordinary Family. She’s currently appearing on CBS’ A Gifted Man.
Defiance sounds like it could be an interesting, and more to the point, actual-science-fiction series for Syfy. This bit of great casting news only makes it more intriguing.
