Justified Season 4 Will Hit Blu-ray And DVD This December
The criminal underbelly of small town Kentucky doesn’t often make for compelling television, but Justified has turned that very concept into interesting drama over its first four seasons. The criminals in FX’s drama series have caused problems for reluctant Kentucky Deputy U.S. Marshall Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) over the years, but in Season 4, his tenuous relationships with the local criminals keep reaching breaking points, making for 13-episodes of television that should not be missed. Soon, you can view these episodes from the comfort of your own home. The series is already available to purchase digitally, and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is bringing Justified: The Complete Fourth Season onto Blu-ray and DVD on December 17.
Season 4 features Givens dealing with a 30-year-old cold case involving the death of a parachuter in Kentucky, leaving behind bags of cocaine that may have connected the dead man to a major mobster. In the meantime, some old cast favorites, including Raylan’s dad, Arlo, Wynn Duffy, Ellstin Limehouse, and Ava and Boyd Crowder are all busy getting up to various criminal (or criminal-ish) shenanigans. Raylan has his own personal problems, with a baby on the way and some troubles in his dating life, and when tragedy strikes his family, it looks like the good Deputy U.S. Marshall might just crack.
In some ways its business as usual in Season 4, but a lot of the tenuous relationships Raylan has built in Harlan County, Kentucky also come to a head. Boyd and Raylan have reached a critical point in their relationship, and it’s getting to the point where Givens can no longer turn a semi-blind eye to his former friend and coworkers misdeeds. Season 4 offers some of the shows very best episodes, and the drama continues to be the best adaptation of Elmore Leonard’s writing voice to date.
The set itself should be a pretty good one. Blu-ray copies of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment’s release will come with a segment tracking the script, as well as a segment featuring Walton Goggins discussing his character, Boyd Crowder. DVD copies will come with fewer extras, but those extras should still take the viewer some time to get through. The DVD sets will include a whopping 10 commentaries, along with several featurettes. You can pre-order the sets over at Amazon or check out the list of bonus features, below.
