New Justified Trailer: Whose Side Is Ava Really On?
My anticipation for the first full-length Justified Season 6 trailer was fully tethered to the potential presence of new cast member Sam Elliott, but his absence from the video below ended up not being as detrimental as I’d thought. There is a LOT of stuff happening here, from a heist to a doublecross to the return of a Harlan familiar. Cock a shotgun or two and hit play below.
Season 5 ended with us being turned on to the fact that Raylan is now using Ava as his puppet to get to Boyd once and for all. Of course, just because Raylan got her out of prison doesn’t mean she is going to constantly swoon with appreciation. She’s legally tethered to one former lover and romantically entangled with a lifelong criminal that she probably wants nothing to do with anymore. Life for Ava is going to be very uncomfortable for as long as Boyd is walking the streets.
Of course, Ava looks like she’s just fine playing both Raylan and Boyd against one another, as she did in that fire-filled preview. The only question is whether or not she can keep her face with both men, or if Boyd will smell something suspicious, as he seems to when he watches her sleep. She’s definitely got me fooled into thinking she’s having fun here.
Boyd would like her to believe that the future is nothing but happiness, so long as he pulls off this One Last Score, which will undoubtedly lead to the next One Last Score, and so on. (If this is truly his last one, it’s because Raylan put a bullet in his head.) Still, Boyd seems convinced that this next job is going to net a fortune, and he’s got his usual gang of idiots on duty with him.
I guess the show’s biggest idiot isn’t in that picture, but this trailer brings back Dewey goddamned Crowder, who has NOT been missing from my life for enough time. He’s interested in reconnecting with Boyd, who has seen his share of Dewey screw-ups over the years. Does Dewey deserve it?
Find out where the bodies fall when Justified returns to FX for its sixth and final season on Tuesday, January 20.
