Kevin Hart Is Headed To SNL In 2015
Kevin Hart has been everywhere for the past couple of years, so it’s no surprise that he’ll be popping up on Saturday Night Live after the New Year. During this weekend’s episode, NBC’s late night sketch series announced that Hart will be the first guest to hit Studio 8H in 2015. The musical guest for Kevin Hart’s episode has not yet been announced.
Unfortunately, it’ll still be a while before SNL is back. NBC’s long-running series wrapped up a little later than most other TV shows, airing its winter finale this past weekend in an episode that featured Amy Adams and a pretty clever “Dr. Evil” sketch. Most shows take a break around the holidays these days, but we unfortunately won’t see Saturday Night Live back on the schedule until late January. Currently, Hart’s appearance is slated for Saturday, January 17, 2015.
This won’t be the first time Kevin Hart has hosted Saturday Night Live. The funnyman’s first appearance on the series was actually just last March. If you caught that episode, Hart dished about the time he auditioned for Saturday Night Live, blowing it when he revealed that he’s not so great at impressions. The episode also featured a weird Beasts of the Southern Wild-related skit and a very memorable Walking Dead parody.
Overall, it was a pretty good episode, and it’ll be nice to see what Hart brings to the table now that he won’t be an SNL newbie. His second appearance on the show will coincide with the weekend of release for his new comedy The Wedding Ringer, which stars Hart and other comedic actor Josh Gad. We’ve already seen some pretty funny red band footage from the flick, which stars Hart as a dude who pretends to be a best man and Gad as a friendless groom-to-be, and expect there to be a promotional mention when Hart hits SNL’s stage. Hart’s had a tough time in recent weeks, after the Sony hacks revealed top execs didn’t really think too kindly of his brand, but hopefully, the hosting gig will help him to poke fun at all the press he’s been getting of late.
Saturday Night Live will return to NBC’s schedule on January 17 at 11:30 p.m. ET. For other midseason 2015 return dates, check out our midseason calendar.
