King Of The Nerds Renewed For Season 2
The nerds will be returning to TBS for a second season. The network has renewed King of the Nerds, their competition series hosted by two stars of the 80s comedy classic Revenge of the Nerds and expects to bring the new season to viewers in 2014.
Robert Carradine and Curtis Armstrong will return to host another eight-episode season of the show that pits the nerdiest of the nerds against each other to claim the title of the quintessential nerd. The series puts competitors in “Nerdvana” where they start out in group challenges before moving on to individual challenges, and one winner is eventually crowned. The $100,000 winner for the first season has yet to be named, as the season doesn’t wrap until next week. Good ratings and response to the series though seem to have earned it a quick renewal.
Among this season’s challenges, viewers have had the opportunity to experience cosplay, quadcopter gaming, and nerdcore rapping. The challenges are designed to test the self-proclaimed nerds in multiple areas including intellect, ingenuity, skills and pop-culture expertise. TBS seems to have successfully proven that nerd culture is still popular ad will draw in the viewers; the network also airs reruns of nerd-centric comedy The Big Bang Theory, which seems to have found a good complement in King of the Nerds.
King of the Nerds currently airs on Thursday nights at 10 p.m. EST on TBS. Season 1 will air its final episode and crown the first “king” on March 7th.
