Laguna Beach: Love and Lack Thereof
Only one LB-er got Valentine’s Day right this year. It wasn’t swooning Rocky who awkwardly sucked an ‘I love you’ out of her emotionless boyfriend. It wasn’t Kyndra who unsuccessfully attempted to party it up with two extremely aware boys at the same time. And it certainly wasn’t Tessa who was as alone as that rock Rocky had to squeeze water out of. It was Jessica who mysteriously and wisely whisked herself off to Europe where she captured the romanticism of the Hallmark Holiday by almost (the Season Two diva did get a totally random missed call from Cami) removing herself from the suffocating gossip of Laguna. A Travel Channel Europe Special hosted by Jessica would have been a delightful addendum to (or substitution for) this overly Kyndran Valentine’s Day.
Interesting, according to Rocky, is a word that does not fit into the description of the ideal Valentine’s Day. Tessa’s twisty past Valentine experiences, according to the LC wanna-be herself, are the embodiment of this evil interesting-ness. If Rocky is so all knowing about these kinds of things, then clearly her Valentine’s Day must be the epitome of genuine love. The girl, after telling her boyfriend, “I want more words about how you feel,” proceeded to declare the three words before he said anything and then got all fluttery and surprised when he said them himself. Alex, however, later told an unnamed friend: “I am not falling in love – the world will stop when that happens.” I am quite sure that Tessa’s ‘interesting’ days of Valentine pasts never involved her getting foolishly played the way Rocky unknowingly did. I’m glad your Valentine’s Day was so perfect Rocky because I believe you just got duped.
Tyler and snooping sister Nikki decided to host a Valentine’s bash at their extravagant home and all Cami could think about was the possibility of a juicy Kyndra-Cameron-Tyler confrontation. The machinating ingeniousness of Cami (whose brain, by the way, is always thinking the right things) was fully revealed as she exchanged rumors with Nikki. Kyndra’s best friend who has (up until now) showed her undying loyalty is now connecting with both enemies: she’s openly discussing the Kyndra-Cameron hook-up with Nikki (who was billed in her caption as Cami’s friend) and making transatlantic phone calls to Jessica. Now that’s just all kinds of sketchy.
The actual Kyndra-Tyler confrontation over Cameron (who only went to the party after convinced by drama thirsty Nick W.) was a lot less shady than the producer’s obviously contrived editing. Tyler refused to trust a very guilty Kyndra and tragically answered, “Kinda,” when Kyndra asked if he wanted her to leave. That relationship feels just about as nonexistent as a storyline involving Brianna who has not been seen for weeks. (Theme song deletions anyone?) Maybe the Travel Channel can fit her into Jessica’s Europe Special.
