Lifetime Lands Lili For Laffer
It appears Lifetime is in need of therapy—the quirky, comedic kind, anyway. The network known for making “television for women” has just given the green light to a new series called ‘State of Mind’ starring The Haunting’s Lili Taylor.
Characterized as a comedy/drama, ‘Minds’ will feature Taylor as a bold but brilliant therapist whose personal problems rival those of her patients. TV.com reports that the pilot for the show was written by actual psychotherapist and author Amy Bloom (author of critically-acclaimed books such as ‘Normal’ and ‘A Blind Man Can See How Much I Love You’). You can check out her website here. .
In addition to Lili Taylor, the other cast includes UK actor Derek Riddell, Mido Hamada (‘The Path to 9/11’) and Kevin Chamberlin (Lucky Number Slevin).
Taylor’s lengthy resume includes a stint on HBO’s ‘Six Feet Under,’ playing one of John Cusack’s girlfriends in High Fidelity and as a 60’s radical in 1996’s I Shot Andy Warhol.
Look for ‘State of Minds’ to debut sometime this summer. Lifetime’s other dramedy release ‘Army Wives’ (starring Catherine Bell) has been pushed to June instead of March, so it’s possible that ‘Wives’ and ‘Minds’ may launch close together.
