Lifetime Orders HR Pilot From I Melt With You Writer

Make that four scripted pilots ordered by Lifetime this season; they have picked up a pilot for a project called HR, the latest in the lineup that includes recently ordered Cinnamon Girl, The Secret Lives of Wives and The Witches of East End. Seems the network known mostly for melodramatic movies is aiming to change that perception somewhat in the near future.

HR, according to Deadline, is about a woman who runs a human resources department in a huge international company. When she suffers a head injury, her outlook on life changes and she seeks to replace her uptight ways with new, more enlightened practices. And speaking of being enlightened, this project is already drawing comparisons to the HBO series that carries that very name. Enlightened stars Laura Dern as an executive who has a mental breakdown on the job and returns with a very different perspective. Of course, the HBO show doesn’t involve a head injury, but I have to agree that there are some parallels. It wouldn't be the first time that two similar shows have been on television, and they’ve both managed to draw an audience. Of course, none of that will matter if the project doesn’t go past the pilot.

HR, which is a working title, comes from the writer of the 2011 film I Melt With You, Glenn Porter. It’s Porter’s first foray into television both as a writer and executive producer. Co-executive producing are Michael Lohmann, along with Aaron Kaplan for Kapital Entertainment, adding some experience to the mix.
