A Lizzie McGuire Reunion Could Happen, Here's Why
Throughout the early 2000s, Hilary Duff was at the top of her game. The teen star turned pop singer released a few popular albums and starred in movies like Cheaper By The Dozen and A Cinderella Story. However, she’s most famous for her role on Disney’s hit kids series Lizzie McGuire. Now that the actress is trying to get back into the acting game, she says she would be happy to see a Lizzie McGuire reunion happen.
Duff’s actually pretty busy with a new album in the works, but she recently told the Huffington Post that she would be open to seeing Lizzie McGuire make a comeback.
Obviously there are no huge secret plans in the works for a reunion right now, but it’s nice to know that Duff would be on board should someone come up with an awesome script featuring the former middle school-aged character. It’s not as if Disney is averse to this sort of decision-making, either, as the network has done well with its Boy Meets World reboot, Girl Meets World, even signing on for a second season of the drama. Plus, Duff already has a pretty good idea for a sequel.
I envision her as a cartoon artist living in New York City. Really, no offense to Lizzie, but I think we all would be really excited to find out what happened to Gordo and Miranda. I can’t imagine Gordo’s middle school crush on Lizzie lasted, but I do hope he’s still wearing oversized shirts. Additionally, fans haven’t seen Miranda since she bailed on The Lizzie McGuire Movie to pursue other projects. Those projects include a brief stint on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and a cameo gig in Easy A, and also getting arrested for methamphetamines back in 2007. Maybe she’s not quite Disney fodder after all.
Regardless, Duff is definitely ready to jumpstart her career after spending time at home with her family and son, Luca, over the past several years. Maybe a Disney Channel return is in the cards. If not, at least we know we’ll be hearing from Duff soon.
