It looks as though the rumors about Lohan possibly making a guest appearance on ABC’s Ugly Betty are true. And what’s more, not only will she be appearing in the upcoming season finale of Betty but she’s also signed on to appear in a number of future episodes for the show’s third season.
Variety reported the news, saying that Lohan will appear in the May 22nd season finale as well as five episodes of the new season. Unlike some of the guest appearances on Betty, Lohan won’t be playing herself on the show. Instead, she’ll be playing and old schoolmate of Betty’s who apparently wasn’t very nice to Betty back in their teen years and is now down on her luck. As Betty’s living a fairly glamorous life, what with her job as the assistant to the Editor of the fictional fashion magazine, MODE, the tables certainly have turned.
I think if Lohan’s appearance was limited to one episode (two at the most), I’d be fine with it but six episodes sounds like a stretch and a possible distraction. Maybe my skepticism is due to Lohan’s reputation in the tabloids rather than her abilities as an actress. Hopefully the story arc involving this character will be good for the overall premise of the show and not just a stretched-out gimmick to try to boost ratings.
