Add one more to the cast list for David E. Kelly’s new legal dramedy, Legally Mad. It was announced today that Loretta Devine has signed on to play a lawyer in the new NBC series. If you’re familiar with Devine then you might already know that this isn’t her first time working with Kelley.
David E. Kelley is the mastermind behind two other hit legal dramedies, Ally McBeal and Boston Legal, both of which Devine has played guest roles. Devine co-starred in Kelley’s drama series Boston Public. According to the Hollywood Reporter, Devine is signed on to play Jeanette, an attorney at the firm that’s always on the verge of a nervous breakdown. Being familiar with Devine’s acting style, I think this sounds like a perfect role for her.
Legally Mad centers on a twentysomething woman who gets a job working at her father’s law firm. As Kelley excels at quirky legal dramedies, I’m sure this one will be as good as the rest. Plus, it’ll have Kristin Chenoweth in it so it has that going for it.
