We've given you lots and lots of opinions on the Lost finale so far-- with our official recap, Steve's interpretation of the ending, and my list of the ten best moments and five worst. So how about some facts to go along with all of that?
First of all, the ratings: The Hollywood Reporter has the numbers and says the ratings were good, not great, and definitely not the kind of massive numbers for something like Seinfeld or M*A*S*H. 13 million people watched, which is more viewers than the show had gotten in two years, but well below the average of 16 million who watched it every week in the first season.
Now on to the gossip. E! Online's Kristin Dos Santos is reporting that Mr. Eko was missing from the big group hug at the church because the actor, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, turned down the offer to come back. They offered him a decent amount of money, reportedly, but he wanted five times that, and apparently the producers figure Mr. Eko could keep his death by smoke monster and leave the rest of them alone. You may remember frequent rumors that Akinnuoye-Agbaje was a pain in the ass on the Lost, and it's a fact that he asked to be written out of the show; I guess this was his final middle finger to the character.
And finally, Kristin has one more tidbit for you-- the Man in Black had a name! Apparently the writers had named him Samuel, but for whatever reason chose not to reveal that in the show, leaving us recappers with many frustrating nicknames to sort through.
