MTV Adds Presenters And Performers To Movie Awards
If you’ve never seen the ‘MTV Movie Awards’, I’ll describe them as best as I can. It’s the exact opposite of the Oscars. The Academy Awards are a four hour excuse for celebrities to wear eight thousand dollar dresses and compliment each other on how rich they’ve gotten. The ‘MTV Movie Awards’ is like a three hour tailgate party outside Daytona Speedway. Everyone just gets really hammered, makes out with some strangers, and hopes their agents and spouses aren’t watching. Come to think of it, it’s almost exactly like my life, except with a lot more movers and shakers.
Today, MTV announced quite a few of the famous faces that will be in attendance. In addition to presumably all of the nominees, the following celebrities will be gracing your television screens on June 3rd: Colossus of cool Samuel L. Jackson, Seth Rogen (40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up), Izzie Stevens, herself, Katherine Heigl (Knocked Up), Hairspray star John Travolta, Jessica Alba (‘Dark Angel’), and ‘The Shield’s’ Michael Chiklis. Exciting isn’t it? Of course, it wouldn’t be MTV without a few music performances so, look for the virgin Stateside performance by Amy Winehouse and a Rihanna and Jay-Z duet (Contrary to last week’s rumors, Jay-Z did NOT die in a plane crash).
Jimmy Kimmel girlfriend and comedienne Sarah Silverman will be taking up the hosting duties. This hiring fits in perfectly with the no-holds-barred, chaotic environment of the awards show. Plus, it will put network censors on edge, which I’m always down with. I’m actually excited for this shenanigan-ridden night for the first time in years. Expect lots of punk kids, drunken starlets, and a possible Borat acceptance speech.
