MTV To Rock The Cradle Later This Year

What do M.C. Hammer, Olivia Newton-John, Kenny Loggins and Dee Snider have in common? Besides the fact that they’re all musicians, they also happen to be the parents of some of the participants in MTV’s new reality competition, Rock The Cradle. Newton-John is probably best remembered for her role in the film, Grease (not to mention getting “physical” back in the 80’s). Meanwhile, Loggins rocked the Footloose soundtrack and Hammer’s known for his pants, his raps and his ability to hammer without hurting ‘em. Now their kids will have the chance to show off their own vocal talents on Rock The Cradle.

Zap2it reports that Dee Snider is also on the list of celebrity parents of the show’s contestants. Produced by FremantleMedia North America (producer of American Idol), the series should premiere sometime later this year.

Meanwhile, in other MTV reality show news, former Newlyweds star, Nick Lachey is set to produce an unscripted version of Fame. Few details were given about that project but based on that snippet of a description; I’m assuming the series will follow a bunch of young people aspiring to be famous. Actually, that pretty much describes most of MTV’s reality show participants. In this case though, I’m thinking the people on the show will probably have some sort of acting or musical talent to help them on the road to stardom.

And finally, MTV has decided to renew America’s Best Dance Crew for a second season.
