People watch the MTV Movie Awards not because they care about the awards, but because they are funnier, faster, and more entertaining than most of the shows for awards that actually do matter. This year, in choosing their new host MTV has decided to take a different route. Rather than pick someone quick witted and funny, they’ll give their audience something really nice to look at.
Jessica Alba has been tapped to host this year’s MTV Movie Awards. She’s also nominated for three awards (for Sin City and Fantastic Four), which could make things kind of weird if she ends up presenting golden popcorn buckets to herself. But if her dress is revealing enough, I doubt MTV’s target audience will complain.
“The MTV Movie Awards is like a three-ring circus, and I'm thrilled they asked me to be this year's ringmaster” says the 25-year-old bombshell. “It's always a crazy, fun show, and I can't wait to be right in the middle of the action.” This year might be the best time ever to consider watching the MTV Movie Awards with the volume off. That mute button is there for a reason people.
The MTV Movie Awards happen on May 19th at Sony Pictures Studio in Culver City, California. They’ll be taped and aired over and over and over again on MTV shortly thereafter.
