Madonna Confirmed To Perform At The 2012 Super Bowl Halftime Show

While many tune in to the Super Bowl for the football, there are some of us who are only in it for the commercials and the halftime show. A rumor about a certain Material Girl’s participation in the halftime show for the big game next year has been circulating since October and today, the official confirmation was made.
Entertainment Weekly posted the news, stating that the NFL and NBC announced that Madonna is set to headline the Super Bowl halftime show. The announcement was made during tonight’s game between the Detroit Lions and the New Orleans Saints. As EW points out, the big game, which is scheduled to take place on February 5th in Indianapolis, takes place just two days after the release of her romantic drama W.E..
What should we expect from the performance? From what EW says about Cirque Du Soleil collaborating with the singer for the performance, some excellent acrobatics may be on the menu. EW also notes that she has an album set to release next year, so maybe we’ll get a sample of that during the Super Bowl, perhaps mixed in with a medley of some of the many hit songs. We can only speculate at this point, but at the very least, we know she’s definitely on board to perform.
