Starz’s Magic City was fairly slow out of the gate, dwelling on a Miami hotel owner, his two very different sons, a thief and a love affair, and a mad mob boss. Although that sounds like a lot, the story setup in Season 1 actually took up quite a bit of time and effort, which will hopefully set audiences up for a more action-packed Season 2. By the looks of things, Ike is already under water.
Magic City returns to the schedule this summer. When we left off, Ike Evans was making a pretty bold play against local Miami mobster, Ben Diamond, a tough and scary old coot who once shot a dog in front of his wife. In all seriousness, Ike’s a pretty smart guy and willing to take chances in business, but he may have bitten off more than he can chew in regards to Mr. Diamond. While the newest promo from Starz doesn’t tell us a lot about what Ike and his Miami hotel will be up to in the new season, it doesn’t look good for the gambling hotel owner.
If you’ve been keeping tabs, you may already know that Season 2 should be jam-packed with new faces along with some of the familiar ones. James Caan is set to join the cast, as well as NYPD Blue actor Esai Morales. We’ll let you know when Starz gives the new season an official release date.
