Mariska Hargitay Is Officially Returning To Law & Order: SVU
When shows are on the air for an extended period of time, it's almost inevitable that characters on programs will move on in order to try new projects and sometimes even break into films. Last season, when Law & Order: SVU’s Mariska Hargitay requested a reduced workload, it seemed as if she was sticking around just to usher in a new generation of detectives. As it turns out, the actress was firmly a part of Season 14 and didn’t cut back, and now she will be returning for the brand new season at NBC.
The network recently renewed Law & Order: SVU for a fifteenth season on the network. The actress was the first to actually report her return to the veteran series, letting fans know via the social media outlet, Twitter (as per THR).
Hargitay is a pretty popular name and face at this point, and I really think she could go they way of Christopher Meloni and take on newer, weirder projects, just as Meloni did when he took his True Blood gig. It’s a testament to Hargitay that she is willing to stick with a show that has made her a household name for over a decade, and I personally can’t wait to see what she’ll bring to the table in Season 15, which will continue to air on Wednesday nights next year. It’s a good thing that Hargitay is returning—as Season 14 ended on a bit of a cliffhanger. We’ll let you know if NBC announces any SVU changes before next season hits the air.
