Mark Burnett Brings This Is Your Life Back To Life

It looks like This is Your Life will be returning to American TV. The series, which has been on the air in various forms in the US and overseas, originated as a radio program back in 1948 when people didn’t have TV’s and instead, gathered around their giant radios to listen to Little Orphan Annie and other programs.

Ok, I’ll admit, some of my knowledge of the radio age that took place back during my father’s youth does come from seeing A Christmas Story in loop on TNT every Christmas eve. All the same, the program was successful then and it’s bound to be successful today, especially because according to The Hollywood Reporter, Mark Burnett is set to produce it. The premise of the show involves celebrity guests being reunited with people from their past. While it had its beginning on the radio, it moved to the small screen in the ‘50s and was revived again briefly in 1972. I think it’s due for another comeback.

ABC attempted to revive the series a couple of years ago and was supposed to be hosted by Regis Philbin but the series never made it to air. With the super-successful British producer at the helm, I’m guessing the series will have better luck this time around. Burnett’s the man who brought us Survivor, The Apprentice, and Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grade?, among other series.
