Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D., Once Upon A Time And Its Spinoff Headed To Comic Con
While it's not always safe to assume that every geek-friendly TV or movie project in the works will make its way to Comic Con in San Diego, some projects are more anticipated and borderline-expected than others. And Joss Whedon's Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. likely fits into that category. It ticks off a number of SDCC-compatible checkboxes, when factoring words like "Marvel" and "S.H.I.E.L.D." and "Joss" and "Whedon." These are things Comic Con goers love. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised at all if S.H.I.E.L.D. was one of the harder panels to get into at the convention this year. Because it will be at SDCC this year. ABC confirmed the good news today, along with word that Once Upon a Time and the spinoff series Once Upon a Time in Wonderland will both be at SDCC as well.
Here's what we know about the S.H.I.E.L.D. panel. It's set for Friday, July 19. No word on what time or where. I'm going to guess Ballroom 20 if not Hall H, but that's TBD for now. The panel will include Joss Whedon and Marvel's Head of Television and series executive producer Jeph Loeb. No mention on who else might be at the panel or what attendees will get to see. I'm thinking it might be too much to hope for a pilot screening, but it could be a possibility. Otherwise, maybe a new trailer or some clips. The series will also be featured at the Marvel Entertainment Booth on the Convention Center floor throughout the weekend, "with special surprises to be announced." Exciting!
As for the Once Upon a Time in Wonderland and Once Upon a Time panels, they will take place on Saturday, July 20. Again, no specifics on exactly where or when, but ABC says both shows' executive producers and casts will be in attendance to participate in panels. They'll also be featured at ABC's booth on the Convention Center floor, with autograph sessions with each cast set to take place. Once Upon a Time fans can also keep a lookout for the ABC branded pedicabs that will be carting people around the area. They tease the Evil Queen's carriage, the Jolly Roger and Alice's magical mushroom! Sounds like a great photo-opp for Comic Con attendees fortunate enough to catch sight of one while in the area.
ABC's announcement is one of the first official announcements about TV series set for panels at Comic Con. It follows 20th Century Fox TV's news that How I Met Your Mother, Sleepy Hollow, Futurama and a number of other TV series would be featured at the convention as well.
