Matthew McConaughey And Woody Harrelson Are Armed, Badged And Serious In New True Detective Poster
We’re coming up on the one-month mark in the countdown to the premiere of Nic Pizzolatto’s HBO series True Detective. HBO released a new poster, which shows stars Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson armed and badged in black and white. As if their facial expressions aren’t enough of an indication that this show means business, the two men are set behind the words “Touch darkness and darkness touches you back.”
The description links McConaughey and Harrelson’s characters Rust Cohle and Martin Hart with a murder mystery that goes back to 1995 and is re-opened in 2012…
We know McConaughey and Harrelson are great together, and we also know that they can be funny when they want to be, but all evidence — including the trailer below — indicates that this series will aim for dark, gritty and maybe at least a little bit thrilling, with the promise (by the title of the video) of a “slow boil.”
I’m all for a slow boil, as long as it boils. Whether or not this becomes the next must-watch murder mystery remains to be seen. Here’s hoping though. In the meantime, we have the prospect of a serious McConaughey and Harrelson pairing, which is reason enough to tune in when the series premieres January 12 at 9:00 p.m. Here’s the other trailer:
