Mel Brooks Strikes Back! Clip Has Brooks Discussing Gene Wilder And Young Frankenstein
Headed to HBO later this month is Mel Brooks Strikes Back!, a special that - based on what we've seen so far - will be a must-watch for fans of the legendary film director. The latest clip to make its way online gives us a look at Brooks as he discusses Young Frankenstein and why he didn't appear in the film. Apparently, Gene Wilder's to blame for that.
Mel Brooks Strikes Back! is a special featuring Brooks as he's interviewed by Alan Yentob to discuss his life and work. In the last clip we shared from Brooks' upcoming HBO special, he was discussing his mother. In this latest one, he talks about working with Gene Wilder on Young Frankenstein.
It's a great little anecdote about the making of Young Frankenstein, and an interesting bit of trivia that offers some insight into Wilder and Brooks' minds during the making of the 1974 movie. And there's likely to be even more stories from Brooks about the making of some of his beloved comedies over the years. And if he tells them as humorously as he shared this one about Wilder, the special will be as entertaining as it is informative.
Mel Brooks Strikes Back! premieres December 10 at 9:00 p.m. ET on HBO.
