Mel Brooks Strikes Back! Clip Shows The Director Discussing His Mother

Mel Brooks fans have something to look forward to next month, which isn't so far away now that we mention it. HBO has Mel Brooks Strikes Back! set to air this December. The special will feature the legendary film director as he discusses his life and work with BBC's Alan Yentob. A clip from the special has made its way online and gives us a look at Brooks discussing an aspect of his personal life from when he was young.
Mel Brooks is a funny man. That's not news to anyone who loves his movies, which include Blazing Saddles, Spaceballs, The Producers and Young Frankenstein. But he's not talking about his movies in this clip from the special. Here, he's talking about his mother, specifically her height and the Irish accent she developed.
It's a great story and one of probably many that he'll share in the special. Hopefully we'll see another clip or two made available between now and when the special airs on HBO Monday, December 10 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT. In the meantime, you can check out the trailer for the special here.
