Melissa George Quits Lipstick Jungle

Australian actress, Melissa George has apparently quit her role in the new drama series ‘Lipstick Jungle,’ which is scheduled to premiere on NBC later this year. George was set to star alongside Brooke Shields and Lindsay Price as Nico, one of the three central female characters in the show that is said to be the next ‘Sex and the City.’

‘Lipstick Jungle’ is based on another novel written by ‘Sex and the City’ author Candace Bushnell. The show will center on three successful career women dealing with their jobs and relationships in the big city.

Rumor has it, George’s departure from the ‘Jungle’ was due to creative differences and she’s been offered a role in the new HBO drama, ‘In Treatment.’ ‘Treatment’ is being produced by Oscar nominee, Marc Wahlberg (who is also the producer of HBO’s ‘Entourage’). It is based on a popular Israeli drama series and has been green-lit for 45 episodes.

Fans of the show ‘Alias’ will remember Melissa’s role as Lauren Reed, the sexy but equally evil wife of Vaughn in season 3. No word on who might replace George in ‘Lipstick Jungle,’ though the not-always-reliable IMDB.com has ‘24’ and ‘The Nine’ star Kim Raver listed in the role.
