The Mentalist Season 4 DVD Set Will Hit Homes Later This Month
The Mentalist is gearing up for a new season in a new timeslot at the end of the month. There are still a few weeks before we get to see where the newest Red John clue leads, but until then, if we’re just looking to relive some cutesy moments between Jane and Lisbon or wanting to delve in to some old cases from last season, we’ll be able to do so when Warner Bros. Home Entertainment brings The Mentalist: The Complete Fourth Season onto DVD on September 18.
Bruno Heller’s The Mentalist may be a procedural, but it’s a procedural full of surprises. Season 4 was a whirlwind of a season that began with Jane dealing with a trial for murder, hit a downfall period for the character, and then reached yet another stab at finding Red John. There was so much going on at any given moment, I constantly felt like I was missing something, and it will be nice to relive Season 4 moments and search for more clues with the upcoming DVD set.
Unfortunately, if you don’t happen to be the reliving type, the set won’t come with a ton of bonus features. 24-episodes makes for a pretty lengthy DVD set as is, so I don’t really blame them, although I will note there are clear benefits associated with moving to Blu-ray, including more disc space. Fans of featurettes will get the aptly titled “California Bureau of Investigation (CBI): Behind the Badge” extra, which will follow the cast and crew as they build CBI related scenes to make certain the police procedures look as realistic as possible. Other than that, the set looks pretty basic, but let’s be honest, you were buying it for Jane’s cheeky comments, anyway.
If you want to catch the CBI team in some brand new action, Season 5 of The Mentalist premieres Sunday, September 30 at 10 p.m. ET.
