Mexico Throws Out Charges Against Dog
Well it looks as though the prayers of friends, family and fans of Duane “The Dog” Chapman have been answered. Chapman, who stars in the A&E reality TV series, ‘Dog The Bounty Hunter,’ faced jail time for illegal detention and conspiracy after he captured convicted rapist Andrew Luster. Earlier this week, the Mexican court dismissed the charges against Chapman.
A&E announced on their website today that the court ruled that the statute of limitations in the case had expired. While this is extremely good news for the infamous bounty hunter, the prosecution could still appeal the case. They have until August 8th to do that. In the meantime, it’s likely that the Chapmans are celebrating this victory.
Dog, his son Leland and fellow bounty hunter, Timothy Chapman were arrested last September and charged for “deprivation of liberty.” The Chapmans make their living capturing criminals and bringing them in to face trial for their crimes. In 2003 they went down to Mexico and successfully captured Andrew Luster, who was later convicted of the drugging and raping numerous women. The Chapman’s were arrested last fall for the illegal capture of Luster and spent time in jail. They’ve since then been released on bail and have resumed their work in Honolulu, HI.
A&E is currently airing the fourth season of ‘Dog The Bounty Hunter’ this summer and is set to air a marathon in a couple of weeks.
In the meantime, lets hope the prosecution chooses to forgo the appeal and let the Dog remain a free man.
