Mockingbird Lane Promo Gives Us A Look At The Munster Household

This week, NBC announced that they would be airing the pilot for the planned Munsters reboot Mockingbird Lane as part of a special Halloween event. The move to air it as a special is one more indication that the rumors are true and the project, which was two years in the making, isn't going to series. Whether or not that's officially the case remains to be seen. In the meantime, we'll get to see what Bryan Fuller put together on October 26. You can get a sample in this new preview for the "special" here.

NBC just posted this trailer for the special, which gives us a look at the new Munster family. There's definitely a Pushing Daisies feel to the look of it, with bright colors and fantasy-like visuals (including a fire-breathing dragon!). The cast for Mockingbird Lane includes Jerry O'Connell as Herman Munster, Portia de Rossi as Lily, Eddie Izzard as Grandpa, Charity Wakefield as Marilyn Munster and Mason Cook as Eddie Munster.

It looks like they're aiming for dark but also kind of light, which is pretty much right where Bryan Fuller's lives in his approach to morbid subjects with color and humor (see Pushing Daisies and Dead Like Me). We'll have to wait and see how the finished product looks when it airs Friday, October 26 at 8:00 p.m. And for those interested, there's also a special episode of Grimm set to air immediately afterward. More information on that here.
