More Football in Texas
The Associated Press reported on Monday, November 13 that NBC’s football drama, ‘Friday Night Lights’ will be picked up for an entire season.
This is good news for the show, which was on the chopping block next to ‘Studio 60’ just a few short weeks ago. Both shows have since been picked up for the full season. ‘Friday Night Lights’ is based on the book and movie of the same title. The premise: football in Texas.
A full season on NBC is 22 episodes, so the order extends the 13 episodes of ‘Lights’ already in the can. The show has been underperforming since its debut, but network brass claim that the Nielsen ratings show that viewers like what they are watching and tune in for the entire hour. Apparently, the ratings show a spike in the second half hour of the show.
Everything is usually bigger in Texas, so the ratings for ‘Friday Night Lights’ better get bigger if there is to be a season 2 boxed DVD set.
