NBC Bringing Back Fear Factor
It's been half a decade since NBC's reality hit Fear Factor wrapped its run, allowing animals everywhere to breathe a sigh of relief with the knowledge that their unmentionables were no longer at risk of being eaten on national television. Well, critters of the world, it's time to start guarding your cojones again: NBC is resurrecting Fear Factor.
EW's Inside TV blog reports that the show's return was prompted by the solid performance of reruns on NBC's sister cable channel, Chiller. NBC head of alternative programming Paul Telegdy initially discussed the idea of doing several Fear Factor specials with one of the show's producers, but they soon decided to mount a full-blown new incarnation. Telegdy said, "The stunt and camera technologies have evolved since then, we’re going to be able to make it even bigger ... We’re going to make it more visually arresting.”
There are no further details as to when the show might premiere or who might host, but somewhere Joe Rogan is waiting for a phone call...
