NBC's Smash Pilot Available Online, Coming To Hulu Soon
If you've watched anything on NBC during the past several months, you've almost certainly seen adds for their upcoming behind-the-scenes-of-Broadway series Smash. It's no surprise NBC is going all-in on their marketing push, since it's got no less than Steven Spielberg attached as an executive producer. Jonathan gave us his reactions to the pilot yesterday, and it sounds like this is a show that will definitely be worth your time if you're at all interested in the subject matter. He also mentioned that NBC had made the pilot available for early viewing for XFinity cable subscribers and as a free download from iTunes. If you don't have XFinity and don't like iTunes, fear not; Smash is going to be popping up on numerous other platforms in the weeks leading up to its February 6th premiere date.
First of all, the show is also available right this very minute, for free, via Amazon Instant Video. Still not satisfied? Fine, you can also see it on platforms such as Xbox/Zune, Playstation, Samsung MediaHub and Vudu. If none of those strike your fancy -- seriously, you're a stubborn one, aren't you? -- Smash's pilot will be streaming on both Hulu and NBC.com beginning January 23rd.
What's that? You say you're going to be traveling for the next several weeks and you don't have time to watch it? That's what you think! They're also screening it on assorted American Airlines flights. NBC really, really wants you to see this thing, is what I'm getting at.
If you've somehow managed to avoid the commercials this long, here's a trailer for Smash. It stars Katharine McPhee, Debra Messing, and Anjelica Huston as members of a Broadway troupe putting on a musical based on Marilyn Monroe.
