Neve Campbell Joins Season 9 Of Grey's Anatomy
Patrick Dempsey has another sibling set to show up in the ninth season of Grey’s Anatomy, and the actress will be a Scream 3 co-star. Neve Campbell, who appeared in all four Scream films including the third installment in which Dempsey was her love interest, has been tapped to play a more sisterly role opposite Dempsey on Grey’s.
Derek Shepard has four sisters on the show, and two have already made themselves known. Caterina Scorsone has already taken the role of sister number one, Amelia, and Embeth Davitz played sister number two, Nancy. Campbell will either play Kathleen, the Shepard sibling who works as a psychiatrist, or the fourth sister about whom little is known. TVLine reports that the sister will make her appearance as Derek struggles with the hand injury he incurred as a result of the plane crash at the end of last season. The injury has put an end to his surgery career and left him in a difficult and complicated place in his life.
Campbell will appear in multiple episodes of the series this season, at least two – which hints that there could be more. The Party of Five actress is currently appearing in Encore’s Titanic: Blood & Steel and is working on a feature film biopic of composer Antonio Vivaldi, set for release in 2013.
Grey’s Anatomy kicked off Season 9 on September 27th after cutting it close last spring on contract negotiations, leaving fans to wonder if there would be another season at all. The current season has seen some familiar faces gone, but with the core cast signed to two year contracts, the news is shifting to the new faces we’ll be seeing this season, including Campbell and William and Kate star Camilla Luddington.
