The Newsroom Preview: A Look At The HBO Series Premiere
After weeks of looking at trailers and character spots for HBO's upcoming drama The Newsroom, the series will make its grand debut this Sunday night. HBO just released a new preview for the premiere, which focuses on the series' first episode. And as a bonus, we have a look at Aaron Sorkin's appearance on this week's Rock Center.
At this point, those of us who are already looking forward to Aaron Sorkin's cable news-focused drama series The Newsroom probably don't need any more incentives to tune in, however this video does a nice job of zooming in on the series premiere, which will introduce us to Jeff Daniels' character Will McAvoy, a man who appears to be at the end of his rope and based on this video, possibly out of a few staff-members.
He doesn't seem to be the most beloved man at the news station, but given the outbursts, that's not that hard to understand. Of course, he doesn't need to be likable to be a great character. Intense seems to be the tone of everything we've seen from this series, and this video doesn't deviate from that. I'll be interested to get to know Will better and see what kind of history and relationship he has with Emily Mortimer's Mackenzie MacHale.
And if you're a fan of Aaron Sorkin, you'll want to check out Rock Center with Brian Williams later this week. The West Wing creator and Social Network writer will be featured in a segment and interview during this week's episode. Check out a clip from that below to see what Sorkin has to say about things that are "Sorkiny."
The episode will air this Thursday night at 10/9c on NBC. And The Newsroom premieres this Sunday night (June 24)
