The Newsroom Season 2 Trailer Teases Drama, Scandal And New Assignments
Following up on another teaser for The Newsroom is a trailer that actually reveals footage from the upcoming second season of the HBO drama series. The new trailer teases both professional and personal conflict at the fictional cable news network, and also a couple not-so-current events, which will be explored in Season 2 - the Romney presidential campaign and the Occupy movement.
Back when HBO released the set video for Season 2 of The Newsroom, we learned a number of plot details about the new season, including that Neil (Dev Patel) would be covering the Occupy Wall Street story, while Jim (John Gallagher, Jr) would be heading off to cover the Romney campaign. From the new trailer, it sounds like Neil gets arrested, which makes me think maybe he gets a bit more involved in the movement than he intended. Either that, or he was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Meanwhile, Will (Jeff Daniels) and Mac (Emily Mortimer) will be further exploring their ever-complicated relationship - that was teased further in another recent promo - while things would be getting worse and worse for Maggie (Alison Pill). And based on this latest trailer, it looks like Sloan (Olivia Munn) is going through her own issues, and things get violent. It also looks like Hope Davis' character Nina Howard is back.
This trailer gives us our first good look at what's ahead for the characters, and it comes a little more than a month ahead of the return of the series. The Newsroom Season 2 premieres July 14 on HBO.
