Nick Lachey To Host NBC's New Singing Game Show The Winner Is

While The Sing-Off may be a thing of the past, NBC appears to have found a new show for Nick Lachey to host. The network announced today that Lachey will serve as host for their upcoming new "hybrid singing game show" The Winner Is. That title is subject to change, and for the sake of avoiding confusion when referencing it, I kind of hope it does.
The Winner Is will features musicians (groups, solo artists, kids, etc) from various musical backgrounds facing off against one another to win a huge sum of money in record time. Singers will go head to head in a singing duel, after which the studio audience votes to determine who is the best performer. The losing act is eliminated, but before the results are revealed, the acts are faced with the decision to take a cash offer, which means leaving the game for good. That last part seems to add a bit of chance to the game, which makes it a little less like your standard singing competition and more about the money.
The finale will see eight episode winners set up to compete until two contestants remain to face off against one another.
Given Lachey's experience in music, not to mention his time spent hosting NBC's a cappella singing competition The Voice, he seems like a perfect candidate for the job.
