Nostalgia For Scooby-Doo Runs Higher Than New Disc Cost
Warner Bros. is a better marketer than it often gets credit for. The company was, for a while, producing the ever-popular Smurfs series in 5-episode mini discs that could be bought cheaply. Apparently, this tactic was a success, because the company is ready to try cheap sets with a different series. Warner Bros. is set to put out 3-episode mini discs of Scooby-Doo on September 6.
Unlike the Smurfs discs, the four new Scooby-Doo titles will span multiple series. Episodes will come from Scooby-Doo, Where Are You?, What’s New, Scooby-Doo?, and The New Scooby-Doo Movies. Each set will be themed, and while they won’t come jam-packed with extras, for $5.98 it doesn’t really matter. A list of episodes on each set is included, below.
