O'Reilly Vs. Stewart 2012: The Rumble in the Air-Conditioned Auditorium Promos
Do you ever watch political debates and just think, "this is some bullshit, they aren't even answering the questions and/or engaging with each other." Well, I don't because I don't even bother to watch the platitudes and rhetoric that pass for important debates about policy or issues that actually matter. It's all posturing. Something tells me, however, that The Rumble, aka O'Reilly vs, Stewart 2012: The Rumble in the Air-Conditioned Auditorium, will be a horse of a different color. Or a donkey and an elephant of a different color, if you prefer.
The two amicable adversaries - they actually seem to get along as guests on each others' shows despite the way their respective programs often portray the other - are set to duel it out for all to see on this new fangled thing called the internet. It will certainly be entraining and funny, plus I don't see how it won't get heated unless the whole thing is scripted in advance but that's not really either of their styles. Jon will, of course, write some jokes but is always up for a debate and we all know O'Reilly loves to do it live, so I expect fireworks.
Here are the first few promos for the upcoming event scheduled for early October. The first sets the stage with some explosive typesetting (which had to be supplied by The Daily Show staffers) and is simply called "The Rumble 2012"...
Next we get a short video from each of the master debaters (sorry, had to) starting with the host of the O'Reilly Factor himself, "Bill." As usual, he takes his pot shots at Stewart having a writing staff but I bet Mr. O'Reilly is a little nervous. He's the legit newsman and the only one with anything to lose... right?
And finally, the people's champion (the people who are roughly 18-35 and swing to the left) for The Rumble 2012 and host of The Daily Show, Jon Stewart. While he's hard at work getting ready, he can't help but wish he knew some bullheaded and smart Irishmen with which to practice. Too bad none of those exist in the comedy world.
Lastly, they've also released a poster for the event and it's fitting reminiscent of an old school political bout, half debate, half boxing match. I think they probably used the same graphic designer as the "Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear" posters.
On Saturday, October 6th at 8 p.m. ET, O'Reilly vs. Stewart 2012: The Rumble in the Air-Conditioned Auditorium will be streamed live from Lisner Auditorium at The George Washington University. Watch it on the internet, the same place we go to watch cats playing the piano, at www.therumble2012.com. You can pre-order for just under five bucks and half of the net profits go to charity. There's also an option to buy tickets to watch the event in person, if you happen to live or be in the Washington area.
