Off The Map's Rachelle Lefevre To Star In CBS' Under the Dome Series

There's been a steady flow of casting news for CBS' anticipated series adaptation of Stephen King's Under the Dome, the most recent of which sets the leads for the exciting project. Following word that Dean Norris and Mike Vogel have signed on to play James "Big Jim" Rennie and Dale "Barbie" Barbara respectively, comes word that Twilight beauty Rachelle Lefevre will play the female lead in the series.

According to Deadline, Lefevre joins Vogel and Norris among the leads for the 13-episode series, which follows a small New England town that suddenly finds itself encapsulated by an impenetrable dome. Lafevre is set to play Julia, a newcomer to Chester's Mill who moved to the town from Chicago, along with her husband, and works as an investigative journalist.

Lefevre has a number of small screen credits to her name, including What About Brian, Swingtown, and more recently, the short-lived Off the Map and CBS' A Gifted Man. She's also known for playing the first Victoria in the Twilight films (her role was recast to Bryce Dallas Howard for Eclypse). I kind of pictured Julia to be a little bit older, but Lefevre is actually 34, though she could pass for much younger. It'll be interesting to see how she handles the part.

Lefevre's casting follows word that Pan Am's Mike Vogel has joined the series to play army veteran Barbie. As intriguing as that news is, considering Barbie's role in the story, as a Breaking Bad fan, I'm especially excited to see how Dean Norris does as the villainous Big Jim Rennie.

It looks like the cast has really taken shape here. And with only about four months until the series premieres (June 24 at 10:00 p.m. on CBS), that's a good thing!
