Oliver Stone Explores Secret History Of America For Showtime
Oliver Stone has made a name for himself with controversial and questionably accurate “historical” films such as W., Nixon, and JFK. Now The Hollywood Reporter says that Stone is creating The Secret History of America for Showtime, a documentary series that will explore lesser-known elements of critical moments in American history such as President Truman’s decision to drop the atomic bomb.
Stone will narrate the 10-part series, expected to premiere on Showtime sometime in 2010. Other potential subjects include the origins of the Cold War and the Vietnam War, and given Stone’s past obsessions, it probably wouldn’t be out of line to suspect a look “back and to the left” at the Kennedy assassination. Regardless of what the 10 episodes choose to focus on, you can bet they’ll get people talking.
